Clinical Trial Of Fetal Cell based Skin Substitutes On Healing Of Donor Sites In Burn Patients

Revolution in Wound Healing! 💫 A phase I clinical trial was conducted to evaluate the potential efficacy of amniotic membranes seeded with fetal fibroblasts for wound healing. The transplantation of these fetal skin substitutes in 10 subjects with a total burn surface area of 10-55% demonstrated an increase in the rate of re-epithelialization and greatly reduced the intensity of pain. The time taken for wound closure also showed positive improvement.

Comparison Of Fibrin Sealant And Staples For Attaching Split-Thickness Sheet Grafts In Patients

Fibrin vs. Staples! In this study, a fibrin sealant containing 4IU/mL thrombin (FS 4IU) was sprayed onto a burn site, while other wounds were closed with staples. The findings showed that FS 4IU is deemed safe and effective for the fixation of skin grafts, with outcomes similar to or better than those of staple fixation. This suggests that it is a promising candidate for skin graft adhesion and burn wound healing. 😀

Another study has revealed that Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from umbilical cord and placenta can significantly improve wound recovery with minimal scarring. The treatment was well-tolerated by subjects, leading to re-epithelialization.

A clinical study has shown that local bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (BM-MSC) 🦴 therapy significantly enhances wound closure and tissue regeneration in severe radiation burns. The therapy effectively reduced systemic inflammation, decreased chronic pain, and improved functional recovery with no major side effects.💪
